Who am I?

Over the weekend, a friend mentioned to me that another friend of hers had seen this new website and my new page on Facebook and couldn't figure out what I was doing. My bad. I'm an all or nothing kind of person - even when it's not prudent. For those of you who know me, you know me as the soapmaking, homeschooling mom of four boys. This website/venture is my new chapter. If you don't know me - hang around. It'll be fun. Really.

So, I will try to clear things up and move on in a more professional-ish manner from now on.

I can never leave things the way they are. I have always been this way. I know I'm not going to change. Look at this picture. I painted a pumpkin!  The backsplash behind the pumpkin is all me too. I broke a bunch of plates and created a tile mosaic.  Heck, I can't leave myself alone. To the right of the pumpkin is a bottle of nail polish.

I like nice things. I want my house to be a happy place that reflects a bit of us. We opted to homeschool our four boys. That meant me not working. That meant no real budget for house stuff. I learned to get creative. It only took about 20 years for me to figure out that I'm good at it. Old stuff can be made new and fresh and fun.

Now that I'm down to one senior in high school, I have crazy time free. We recently moved and I went a little nuts - in a good way - with furniture. On my shopping adventures, it occurred to me that my projects were as good, or, sometimes, even better than what I was seeing in stores.

So, I decided to give it a shot. Here - on this website, on Facebook, and everywhere, I will be selling my finished furniture creations. Delivery and shipping are available so don't let distance deter you!  In addition, I plan to offer tutorials on how to do what I do yourself. It's all about sweat equity. You put it in yourself or you can pay me to do it. I will soon have a page of unfinished furniture that you can claim and have me customize it in exactly the finish you want. In addition, there will be items that are already finished that you can purchase.

I had an awesome chance this February to go to Paris. (No, I did not drink that whole bottle of champagne! My mom and her cousin were standing in the aisle taking pictures.) I used some awesome blogs and resources to get me ready. I knew nothing about how to dress for Paris, travel or anything like that. I got great information!  I hope that this blog will be a similar resource for people who don't know a thing about furniture or painting or decorating. Please ask questions. If I can't answer, I'll find someone who can.

I hope this makes my goal with this new venture more clear. It's fun. See me having fun?  Really -  my goal is to make your house fun one way or another!!!   As I get the hang of things, I hope to add workshops similar to those in the mallwhere you paint a picture.  At my workshops,  you and your friends can have some wine and finish a small piece of furniture.  For now, I appreciate the support of my friends and I hope you'll share with your friends!
